When my son was being potty trained, I made this waterproof bed pad to avoid bed wetting. This is great to take on an overnight trip to slip under the bedding. It works great! Now I would like to show how I made it with you.
You will need:
- Fabric (I used flannel) - PUL (you can also use a flannel backed vinyl tablecloth) - Towel - Scissors - Rotary Cutter - Cutting Mat - Pins - Threat - Ruler - Measuring Tape - Sewing Machine
I used an old towel and cut off the thicker pieces so we're left with the softer parts of the towel. (I hope you understand what I mean.)
You can either used the whole towel or cut it in half so you can make two.
Using the measurements based on the size of your towel, cut all your fabrics and lay them in this order: flannel, PUL (or flannel backed vinyl tablecloth), towel.
*Make sure the right sides of your flannel and PUL (or flannel backed vinyl tablecloth) are facing each other. Then, sew along the edges, leaving a 5" gap for turning it inside out.
Cut the four corners (don't cut your seams), and then flip it inside out. Make sure you pull from in between the flannel and the PUL. Poke the four corners to make them more finished looking corners.
Pin the opening, top stitch around the edges and closed the opening. I stitch two line in a middle so that it wouldn't shift or bunch up while on the bed or when it's in the wash.
And now you're done! Hope you enjoyed this tutorial. (Hopefully you weren't too confused by my explanations) Happy Sewing!
