Hi crafters!
I've always loved aprons I always found them very cute, so I'm going to show you how to make these very simple and very cute aprons as seen above, modeled by my kids). I love this design and have used it many times, and now that I think I've mastered the pattern I'd like to share it. You will need:
Fabric of your choice (I used 100 cotton)
Pleats or Ruffles (3.5 inches wide plus the length) Bias Pins Rotary cutter Cutting Mat Ruler Scissors Threat Iron Sewing Machine
These are the measurements I used, but you can alter them to your fitting. (The kid's measurements was based on my three year old son).
First step for the pleats (or ruffles), hem one side, fold it twice and iron and stitch it down.
I marked my pleats in inches and folded back and forth and pin until I covered the whole length from the side of the waist line to the other side.
Once you've finished pinning the pleats in place, sew straight, then zigzag, to avoid fraying. Flip it over right side up and iron down the pleats, then top stitch.
Now grab your bias and sew it to the top of your apron. Next, fold the ends of your bias once for the waist tie and sew it to the sides of your apron, keep room for your neck loop.
For the pocket. Get a 13" x 15" rectangle, fold it in half, sew along the edge, leave about a 3" gap for turning inside out, cut the corners before turning and iron.
Sew the top of your pocket. Then, find the middle of your pocket and place it on your apron. Sew along the sides and the bottom and down the middle to create two pockets.
For my son's apron:
I used the same instructions as the adult apron but, instead of pleats I sewed bias all around the edge. Place the pocket and you are done! :)
